Motorbike Paradise Sardinia

In the series of "motorcycle paradises" the Italian island is right at the top of the list. Both pleasure riders and sporty ambitious and gravel fans will find the best conditions here. Most routes have little traffic and are in good condition, often offering magnificent views and curves of all kinds.

There are many ferry connections. Moby Lines, Grandi Navi Velocci, Corsica Ferries and Tirennia sail from Genoa, Livorno, Piombino and Civitavecchia to the island. There are other ferries from Spain (Barcelona) and France (Toulon).

Sardinia is the second largest island in the Mediterranean after Sicily and one of the five autonomous regions of Italy. It lies about 200 km west of the Italian mainland and south of the French island Corsica. The area is about 24.000 sqkm, capital is Cagliari.

The best travel time for motorcyclists is in spring, because it's not so hot yet and everything blossoms. In midsummer it is better to leave the island to the "normal" holidaymakers. In autumn, the tourist flow ebbs again, but the vegetation is already quite dry.

The maximum speed is 50 km/h in urban areas and 90 km/h outside urban areas.

It is not mandatory for motorcyclists to carry warning vests and first aid kits, but if you are involved in an accident you must wear a warning vest.

The helmet must comply with ECE standard 22-05.

The traditional Sardinian cuisine is simple, hearty and tasty. In addition to meat, cheese and bread are on the menu. There are said to be about one hundred different types of bread, the crispy thin shepherd's bread is particularly appreciated. Fish and seafood have only played a greater role since the emergence of tourism. On Sardinia there are also very good wines, after the meal often the traditional herbal liqueur Mirto is served.
